Academic Development

o   Involved in the establishment of the joint degrees between Egyptian Universities and leading US and International Universities to be delivered via different mechanisms utilizing new communications and networking technology.

o   Shared in curricula and course development at several places.

o   Actively shared in the process of lab and network renovation at several universities.

o   Interested in the engineering student training issues.  Performed detailed study on problems, issues and recommendations.

o   Have particular interest in new technology tools to serve education:

o   Started a pilot project with Virginia Tech where I remotely supervised Masters student at VT while actually being in Cairo.  The project was successful and the student was awarded the degree in September 1998.

o   Actively participated in Work Group IV, Administrative Aspects, Euro-Egyptian Symposium on Distance Education by Satellite, April 1999,

o   Attended several workshops on lecturing and the educational process

Regional Workshop on New Approaches to Engineering Education, Al-Ain, UAE, 1995.

Enhanced Engineering Education Experience Workshop, 1994.  The workshop was held in cooperation between United Arab Emirates University and Drexel University, USA.  The workshop covered the Drexel and Arizona experiment in teaching Engineering in a non-traditional fashion and stress on the hands on activities from the very beginning.
